The sighting on December 3rd of a Common Redstart on waarneming.nl caused some excitement for some attentive birdwatchers. This species is very unlikely in December and for that reason the next day early in the morning was searched for the bird at the conscious location at the Zanddijk. The suspicion turned out to be correct. Around a manure heap a beautiful male Eastern Black Redstart hopped around. It is the first record of this vagrant for Texel. The White-throated Dipper found on 1 December in the Staatsbossen disappeared somewhat in the background because of this discovery but is nonetheless very nice. The bird shows very beautiful and sometimes even sings.
