Many days easterly winds and warm weather

are excellent conditions for strong bird migration. In addition to large numbers of swallows, swifts, pipits and wagtails, dozens of migrating Honey Buzzards and Ospreys were also observed. The list of observed rarities is impressive. Among others, the following birds of prey were seen; White-tailed Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle (if accepted by CDNA a new species for Texel), Montagu's Harrier, Red-footed Falcon, Black Kite and Red Kite. Other highlights were the records of King Eider, Black Stork, Pectoral Sandpiper, Bee-eater, Woodchat Shrike, Lesser Grey Shrike, Iberian Chiffchaff, Corn Bunting and Red-throated Pipit.
