At this time of year, ducks, especially the drakes look beautifully colored. At the moment, large groups of Shovelers and Teals are still swimming on the Horsmeertjes. In polder Waalenburg there are mainly many Wigeons present. Soon that will be over and most will leave for their breeding grounds. Of the photographed species below, only the Eurasian Wigeon does not breed on Texel. Gadwall and Shoveler are quite numerous breeding birds. Teal and Pochard are scarce breeding birds.
