The first summer visitors

such as Black-tailed Godwits and Spoonbills are trickling in, but most species are still on their way from their southern wintering areas. The majority of winter visitors often leave for their breeding grounds in the north only in April and sometimes even in May. This means that especially in the month of April, diversity increases sharply. Summer and winter guests can be observed side by side during this period. Some species that overwinter en masse on Texel are duck species such as Wigeon and Teal. Often a single Hooded Crow hibernates, such as this year at De Hoge Berg.
