Pink and isabelline

For several weeks, an adult Rosy Starling has been staying in a residential area in Den Burg. This species of starling breeds in Eastern Europe and large parts of Central Asia. The bird is feasting, among other things, on peanut butter. Another vagrant from Central Asia appeared on October 15 in the Mandenvallei, a dune area in the north of Texel. It concerns a young Isabelline Shrike, though it has not yet been determined whether it is a Daurian or Turkestan Shrike. The shrike provided a beautiful sight for the gathered birdwatchers, hunting large insects from shrubs abnd dune tops.
