Encouraging leading up to The Dutch Birding weekend

Early in the morning it was still very quiet on Texel . But after the discovery of a Red-breasted Flycatcher by Martin and Heleen Harskamp at 10:30 am in polder Het Noorden the birds went loose . In several places were Yellow-browed Warblers reported including 2 exx in the coastal strip on the North Point . Furthermore Redwings , Barn Swallows and a few Fieldfare were seen . To 15:00 pm Jeroen de Bruijn saw a Siberian Stonechat along the Renvogelveld west of camping De Robbenjager. Barely an hour later reported Arend Wassink a Blyth's Reed Warbler near the storm guard house along De Volharding. This bird is well seen by some people but did not hear unfortunately. Because of the bad weather, the search stopped for this bird . Other highlights were a Red-throated Pipit at Ceres (south of Oudeschild ) and the 'Italian' Yellow-legged Gull on the large parking lot west of the port of Oudeschild. The day before the beginning of the Dutch Birding Bird Weekend was very encouraging at least . Hopefully this is a harbinger for a few nice days with many good species.
