NJN find Lesser Grey Shrike!

The last few days it is great birding on Texel. The mild autumn weather is nice and there is a lot to see. Still Parrot Crossbills were reported in the Staatsbossen. Yellow-browed Leaf Warblers also give an appearance in different places. On 22 October, a Glossy Ibis was seen in the Tuintjes. Today around 12:00 pm Rutger Wilschut (NJN The Dutch Youth Association for Nature) reported that he had found an immature Lesser Grey Shrike in the Muy. After half an hour the bird was gone towards northeast. Only at 16.00 the bird was found again in the southwest corner of the Slufter. This is the ninth observation of this shrike species on Texel. The last sighting dates from June 2008.
