Common Rosefinch

is an occasional and thus extremely rare breeding bird on Texel. Its breeding range extends from the largely northern half of Western Europe to East Asia. With its distinctive loud voice the bird is clearly present. In the breeding season when the vocal activity is low or absent, it becomes very difficult to get them to observe.

Less rare but a scarce summer resident on Texel is the European Turtle Dove. The intensive hunting in the Mediterranean poses a serious threat to these beautiful species.
