The last week discovered Blyth's Pipit shows to be a Richard's Pipit after closer examination of the photos. The pattern on the coverts and head and beak shape point to this less rare species. Last week the temperatures considerably decreased. Winter visitors from the Arctic tundra areas take on Texel in number. At several locations groups of Bewick's Swans and Tundra Bean Geese were seen. Also, the Dark-bellied Brent Geese with several thousand are back in their familiar winter area. In addition to previously mentioned winter guests Pale-bellied Brent Goose, Black Brant, Snow Bunting, Horned Lark, Lapland Bunting and Great Grey Shrike let themselves regularly see. Yesterday I saw three Blackcaps in my garden. No ornithological peak but still a nice sighting for late november. Today was an inhabitant of the tundra found in polder Zeeburg with a rare status in our country; a Red-breasted Goose. The bird held itself on between a group of Dark-bellied Brent Geese.
