A overwintering Spoonbill is seen at the Petten regularly. The young bird forages in the characteristic way moving his sensitive bill sideways through the water back and forth. The food includes Three-spined Sticklebacks and shrimps. Another overwintering bird with a similar menu is the Horned Grebe. At this moment there is an adult bird present in polder Waal and Burg.
