The Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus is a scarce winter visitor on Texel. In the months of November, December, January and February, this species is observed in small numbers. However as breeding bird is the Lesser Black-backed Gull well represented. In the dunes and on the Schorren breed over 18,000 pairs!

Another scarce winter visitor is the Ringed Plover Charadrius hiaticula. The largest numbers are seen in the months of August and September, when the species is migrating. On the Hors and at the Mokbaai are regularly numbers to 1000 ex. counted. In recent years the breeding bird population is approximately 20 pairs.
