days many birds crossed the Marsdiep to Texel. A Savi's Warbler was heard briefly on the west side of the Robbenjager. The first Dotterels were reported on the traditional spot at the Hollandse Weg in the north. A Red-necked Phalarope showed up at Dijkmanshuizen. Three Bee-eaters were seen at De Koog. In the Kreeftepolder behind the Horsmeertjes flew a Hoopoe. Finally a Black Kite was seen. The bird flew over the Koog north. The species of the weekend was a Subalpine Warbler Sylvia cantillans albistriata. Many birdwatchers came to this rarity off but soon left the island again. The reason for this was the message that there was an American Robin Turdus migratorius was discovered in the dunes near Heemskerk. This is the first observation of this species in the Netherlands.
