are rare on Texel. The records are almost always in the first and last quarter of the year. This year, a female was seen on 8 February at holiday park De Krim. In most cases, it concerns Northern Bullfinch Pyrrhula pyrrhula pyrrhula. This subspecies is slightly larger and has lighter upper and lower parts than other European subspecies. Only twice has established a breeding event on Texel namely in 1965 and 2012.

The surprise of last weeks is the visit of an early White Stork to the Stork nest behind Birding Information Centre De Verrekieker at the Roggesloot on Sunday February 15th. Unfortunately, next day the ringed bird was left before sunrise. White Stork is a rare guest on the island with an average of only a few records per year.
