More and more species are returning from their winter area but it goes slow. Couples of Marsh Harriers show up again in the known breeding areas. Bluethroats be heard in several places. Meadow Pipits and White Wagtails migrate in reasonable numbers. The territorial female Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is still present in the state forests.

Past two days I saw a 'White-headed' Long-tailed Tit Aegithalos caudatus (var) in my garden. It is an intermediate form of Long-tailed Tit Aegithalos caudatus and White-headed Tit Aegithalos caudatus caudatus.
Yesterday and today a Russian Jackdaw Coloeus monedula soemmerringii was seen at the Spangerweg. This eastern subspecies of the Jackdaw Coloeus monedula is a rare guest in the Netherlands.
