caused a large influx of birdwatchers to Texel. These could enjoy the massive invasion of Redwings, Fieldfares, Song Thrushes, Chiffchaffs, Goldcrests and many other species from the north. The first winter Black-throated Thrush, which was discovered at campsite Loodsmansduin on October 17 was the highlight of the weekend. Unfortunately, the bird was seen by only a few people.
Monday October 19 allowed many birders to enjoy a Pallas's Leaf Warbler (Tuintjes) and a Olive-backed Pipit (Krimbos). From the latter species were on October 21 even three birds present in the Krimbos! Other notable sightings in recent days; several Short-eared Owls and Rough-legged Buzzards, 19 Sooty Shearwaters (22/10 at Pole 15 - Westerslag), Sabine's Gull (22/10 at Pole 15 - Westerslag), Barred Warbler (22/10 Tuintjes), Pallas's Leaf Warbler (16/10 campsite Kogerstrand) and a possible Blyth's Lesser Whitethroat (26/10 Eierlandse Duinen)
