arrive in September on Texel. After spending 7-8 months they fly back again in May to their Siberian breeding grounds. Several thousand birds can be seen at this time in the east and north. Polder Zeeburg is a solid place where each year large groups overwinter. This week I saw two ringed Brent Geese walking next to each other. It appears to be a pair for already a long time. The information I received from Bart Ebbinge (thanks!) is as follows;
YP T has been caught in 2004 as mature female on the nest and ringed by Roeland Bom and Raymond Klaasen on an island near Dikson. She is born in 2002 or earlier. In 2006 she was observed 250 km further east at the Baken Islands in the Pjasina Delta by us as a moulting bird and there has also her moulting partner been caught and ringed: L8 B6. He is born in 2004 or earlier.
