In the month of July there are large numbers of birds on Texel. Some species, in particular waders have already left their northern breeding grounds and stay at present in the Wadden Sea area to strengthen before they move on to the south. In addition, many breeding birds have youngsters and, of course, this also cause a steady increase.
On July 21, the first Pacific Golden Plover of the "autumn" was discovered. The bird was in a small group of Golden Plovers in Utopia. Also seen in this place was an adult Red-necked Phalarope. Over the past few days, the diversity of waders has increased. Curlew Sandpipers, Little Stints, Common Sandpipers, Wood Sandpipers, Ruffs and Green Sandpipers are being seen in increasing numbers.
