the autumn migration starts slowly. Last days there was a slight increase of, among others, Willow Warblers, Garden Warblers, Lesser Whitethroats and Blue-headed Wagtails. A welcome highlight was a Wryneck that appeared in a small dune valley near the lighthouse. What can we expect in the coming weeks? Of course, with the coming autumn more songbirds will decide to migrate from north to south. Species like Common Redstart, Pied Flycatcher and Winchat are coming. Fanatical birders hope to find a vagrant among these common species. The waiting is for the first Barred Warbler of the autumn, a very scarce migrant in The Netherlands. Or the rarer Booted Warbler or Blyth's Reed Warbler. In short, everything is possible.
