That is the color of the Roller, a breeding bird from southern and eastern Europe. On September 24, this beautiful species was found in De Nederlanden, a nature reserve north of De Koog. The next day, Tuesday 25 September, the bird was still present at the same location and many birders took the ferry to Texel to 'twitch' this stunning bird. During the day the bird disappeared from view. It is the sixth record for Texel. Previously, this species was seen in 1964, 1966, 1971, 1980 and 2005. In the last century it concerned records in the months of May or June. In 2005, a Roller was present for 6 days in the month of September.
