Perhaps there are more birds to be found on Texel in winter than in summer. The diversity is smaller, but in an absolute sense many birds stay on Texel during this period. The numbers of wintering geese and ducks are enormous. As well as some waders such as Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Red Knot and Golden Plover. In addition, there are typical winter guests such as Whooper and Bewick's Swan, Peregrine Falcon, Shore Lark, Lapland Longspur and Snow Bunting.
