The discovery of a Squacco Heron on 5 June in De Nederlanden was the fifth record of this small heron species on Texel. This breeding bird of southern and eastern Europe could be admired until 7 June at a pond in a private garden.
After the influx of 2020 with no less than thirteen birds, two Blyth's Reed Warblers were seen this spring. The first record was on May 25 behind Camping De Robbenjager. The second bird was found singing loudly in the Tuintjes on 3 June. In recent years this "acro" is increasingly being seen in Western Europe. The Texel avifauna list now counts twenty-two records of this northeastern European species.
