The period from August to October is a great time to watch waders. Significant numbers of Little Stints, sometimes as many as fifty to sixty birds together, have been seen in recent weeks. The discovery of a White-rumped Sandpiper on August 26 was a surprise. The adult bird, moulting from summer to winter plumage, was last seen on September 11. This North American vagrant was often seen in the company of some Dunlins. This is the ninth record for Texel.
