,two bird species that breed on Texel. Marsh Harriers are well represented with about 35 breeding pairs. You can actually find them everywhere, both in the dunes and in the polders. Garganeys are scarcer with between 10 and 15 pairs. It is a duck species that prefers swampy areas. Both species are summer visitors and move south after the summer.
