This large wader last breed in the Netherlands more than sixty years ago. Nowadays, this nocturnal, mysterious bird is rarely seen in the Netherlands. On May 30, a Stone-curlew showed up in the Eierland dunes, in the dune area 'De Tuintjes', south of the lighthouse, which is particularly well-known to bird watchers. This is only the ninth record for the island of Texel.
