April does what it wants

24 April 2024

Yes, this spring is too cold and too wet, but fortunately, the birds are not deterred and are returning to their breeding grounds. On Texel, the spring migration is disappointing. The wind is blowing from the wrong direction. Still, I expect a few nice days with migration in the coming weeks. In the meantime, there is, of course, plenty to see. The Common  and Sandwich Terns are mostly back. A beautiful group of Ruff is present in polder Waalenburg.

Songbirds like Bluethroats, Sedge Warblers and Willow Warblers are singing abundantly. Just now, a White-tailed Eagle flew over De Bol.
