The word "skulker" is used in birdwatching circles for birds that, due to their natural behavior, are difficult to spot. In most cases, this refers to small songbirds. The Olive-backed Pipit, in my opinion, also falls into this category. Nowadays, this scarce species is often detected in flight by its call. Birds that stay in one place are often hard to see. On October 19, an individual was spotted in the Krimbos near De Cocksdorp. This bird, too, was difficult to see. I was lucky enough to see it fly from the ground up into a tree. The last observation was on October 29.
