The run-up to the weekend started on 18 september well with a juvenile Red-backed Shrike in the Eierlandse duinen south of the Mandenvallei. The first Brent Geese were seen above the sea. Also striking were the numerous reports of flying Lapland Longspurs. The great day of the weekend was undoubtedly Saturday. The first Yellow-browed Warblers and a beautiful first-winter male Siberian Stonechat in the Mandenvallei made the day a success. At this place was also seen a flying Dotterel for a short time. On this day, as many as 141 species of birds were completed on www.waarneming.nl! Some other nice observations of the weekend, Firecrest, Redwing, Jack Snipe and Pectoral Sandpiper. The latter was observed flying over the Tuintjes. While making this blog I received the message that a Greenish Warbler was seen at the beginning of the Lange Dam. This is the footpath near post 28 at the end of the Krimweg that runs to the south of the Slufter. It already concerns the fifth sighting of this species for this year. The Pacific Golden Plover and juvenile Red-footed Falcon seem to like on Texel. Both are still present. The expectations for the weekend were high on the basis of meteorological forecasts. The real topper was not given but with some very good species and a great variety Texel has done a great job.
