Booming

You hear the Bittern more often than you see it. Living hidden in the reeds, this heron reveals itself with its peculiar sound, a deep and resonant booming. On Texel, it is a rare breeding bird. This year seems to be a good year for this species, with a cautious estimate of between five and ten breeding pairs.
