Influx of Red-footed Falcons

Due to persistent strong easterly winds, Red-footed Falcons were spotted in multiple places in the Netherlands during the month of September. Several birds were also observed on Texel. This beautiful falcon breeds in Eastern Europe. Its diet mainly consists of insects and occasionally mice, which are sometimes taken from Common Kestrels.
